Shelter Location: 60 Blackford Avenue Edinburgh EH9 3ER

Lily is a 5 year old Westie / Lhasa Apso Cross. She is a sweet and loving little girl who is very affectionate. Lily will need an experienced Terrier owner to help her overcome her resource guarding. She will also require a secure garden as she is prone to escaping. Previously she would use the cat flap to escape out of the house. We are looking for a home where there are no cats in the home as she does chase unfamiliar cats.

Lily loves playing with her toys. Her favourite game is playing fetch in the garden, she loves to run really fast to get the ball. Lily knows how to sit, lie down and gives a paw for treats. Lily is an active wee girl who would love to live in a quiet home where her new owners can concentrate on her training. Lily loves when visitors come to the house, especially if she gets lots of attention. Lily would happily cuddle you all day. Lily currently lives with 2 other dogs however due to her behaviour she is unsettling the other dogs in the home. Although she is great with dogs out and about and will happily play with them, she is better suited to being an only dog in the home. Lily is happy to be left for short periods of a time and is not destructive in any way. She will always welcome you home with lots of love when you come home. Lily travels well in the car in a crate and is happy to be picked up to put her in it. She walks well on a lead and generally wears a harness when out for her walks. Lily is not great off lead an may run away chasing squirrels or cats. Her recall will need further training.

Lily does resource guard items such as bones, toys, her bed and has been known to guard the sofa. She will require positive training to help her learn that resource guarding is not acceptable. For this reason we will not re-home her were there are young children in the home. Any children should be teenagers or she would also be happy in an adult only home. Lily unfortunately does bark a lot in the home especially at any unfamiliar noises or if the postie comes to the door. She is generally a sweet, loving an affectionate girl who needs an experienced Terrier owner who can help her overcome her training issues.

Please think carefully before applying for Lily and think how any changes in your circumstances may affect your ability to care for her. If you would like to be considered to re-home Lily please click on our website www.dogaidsociety.com and then click on Lily's page then the green register your interest button and this will take you to our application form. Once you have completed and sent the form you will receive an automatic response to your email address that you have supplied. This means we have successfully received your application. Please note that the Society only re-homes within Scotland.
