Rescue Scottish Pets aims to help shelters by providing them with a place where they can advertise their pets in need, but also to help those wanting to rescue one place where they can view pets form many shelters.

Note that Rescue Scottish Pets is not an actual shelter so does not take or have any of the pets shown on the site. You must contact the shelter directly who has the pet by clicking on View Shelter's Contact Details beside the pet you are interested in.

If you want to rescue a pet but cannot find the right one on the site, I may be able to help as not all pets are listed by shelters I have contact with.

So just drop me an email (see Contact Me in menu at top of site).

Shadow was rescued approximately 18 months ago, her circumstances being that she was in a home where there was domestic violence and as such she overbonded with and was very protective of her female owner - she is very wary of men and will not interact with them in any way.

She was rescued by a single lady who already had 2 GSDs and as the lady lived alone and had few visitors - Shadow settled in fine. Sadly her owner has died and she now requires another (hopefully forever) home. One of her kennel mates has passed away but she continues to live with Denver a 9 year old dog with whom she will happily share a kennel and from who she has gained a lot of confidence. The volunteer who dealt with her adoption 18 months ago saw a big change in her and she came to the volunteer straight away whereas before she would have skulked around in the background and kept out of the way.

In the kennels where she is presently she is absolutely fine with the female owner but wants absolutely nothing to do with her husband, although she has never looked as if she would bite him. Along with her kennel mate Denver she has been used to having lots of freedom and was hardly ever on the lead, she will walk happily on the lead if asked. It is unknown if she has ever chased livestock but she did help herself to some of her owner's chickens! She has lived with cats.

Shadow and Denver lived in the house but have also been used to a kennel - they have been in kennels since their owner took ill in November last year. Her owner's wish was that she be re-homed with Denver.

Meet the handsome long haired lad Billy.

Originally a stray we estimate Billy to be around 3 yrs old and a stunning handsome lad he is.

However don’t let the good looks fool you; he has a wicked sense of humour and his whole mission in life is to have fun. He will need to go into a home where someone will be firm but kind and show him the boundaries.

Billy could be homed with older, sensible dog-friendly children.

It would also be best were he an only dog, so he can get the time and training he deserves. He is neutered vaccs chipped and would really love to be in a home before Santa comes.

Billy is a large dog.

Dyson is looking for his forever home. He needs someone who is around quite a lot and who has the time and patience to commit to continuing his training. He is an affectionate boy and as you can see, sometimes thinks he is a lap dog!

He is approximately 4 years old and has lived with children. Dyson is currently learning some manners and can be quite boisterous at times but he does love a snuggle. He is not overkeen on other dogs so needs to be rehomed as the only dog in the house. He has lived with a cat but has been known to chase her at times. He would need very careful introductions to a cat and a way to separate them, at least to begin with.

He can be quite vocal in the car but has been getting used to travelling. Dyson is currently living with a foster carer and coming on in leaps and bounds. His recall is quite good and he loves to play fetch with a ball

Ernie and Eric’s tale is a bit of a long one. Born to a mother who found herself fending for herself on the streets from a very young age they were discovered by a local resident when they were around 12 weeks old. Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue then set about making a humane trap so that we could catch mum, Flame, and her 2 sons Eric and Ernie.

Never been socialised or handled by humans they were terrified of people and it has taken us a year of working with this amazing duo to socialise them and get them to the point they are now ready to embark on their new future in a new home.

Eric the black and white of the duo is the more outgoing, friendly and chatty one. He’s typically always the first to meet and greet new people when they arrive and likes to ‘help’ the volunteers in a morning by inspecting the pens first to ensure that you have everything ‘just right’ before giving the all clear for the residents to be allowed back in.

Ernie loves a good fuss and his food! Ernie makes you work a little bit to earn his affection but once you have earned his trust he’s an amazing little boy who loves nothing more than a good head or ear rub and loves to follow you around. He’s also rather fascinated by Sarah’s hair and it isn’t the first time he’s sat and gently nibbled on the top of her hair,

The boys are very bonded and the love and companionship they have for one another is very touching to see. In their short lives they have already been through so much and have come so so far from the scared, hissing little kittens they first were to affectionate, loving companion cats.

As much as they love a good fuss neither of them like to be picked up and cuddled and would much prefer you have a seat and let them come join you in their own time. We fully believe however that given the right home and owner they will continue to blossom and once they feel safe may even make the last little piece of their rehabilitation.

We are looking for an indoor only home for Eric and Ernie. Preferably someone experienced with cats although full instruction and guidance will be given on achieving the best from the new relationship with the boys. A quiet home with no young children now or in the future and ideally with someone who is a bit of a home buddy who will enjoy chilling out at home with Eric and Ernie as they thrive on company.

Eric and Ernie are neutered, microchipped and will be up to date with all flea and worm treatments prior to leaving Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue.

If you think you could offer Eric and Ernie the loving forever home they so truly deserve in this world then please contact Sunny Harbour Cat Rescue using the Adoption Application Form in the first instance.

Gorgeous George is a beautiful wee baby greyhound, he's only a yr old and is a lovely wee boy, he was found as a stray when he was only 7 mths so not a lot is know about his start in life, so he does have a few insecurities which his foster home are working on, he would prefer a home with another calm dog, he gets excited around cats so it would be best if it was a home without cats and as he's at the happy bouncy age for greyhounds then a home with older kids would be best.
In the home he's the biggest cuddle monster on the planet, he walks well on the lead with a harness and will make a cracking addition to any home.

He has previously been rehomed and returned to SGS, he has been fully assessed and the verdict is that he is just a typical full of fun greyhound puppy.

If you have room in your home and your hearts for Gorgeous George please visit our website http://www.scottishgreyhoundsanctuary.com where you can complete an online application form or you can email us at info@scottishgreyhoundsanctuary.com or phone us on 08456439335
