Bertie at Dogs Trust - West Calder

A Male Tan Crossbreed who is age 1 to 2

Not Good With Children

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: Bentyhead West Calder EH55 8LE

Likes

Bertie is a 2 year old crossbreed. Bertie is a bouncy and active boy. He is a very energetic boy who enjoys going for long walks and splashing around puddles. He likes games where he can search for toys in the long grass.

Type of home needed

Bertie came to us as a stray and we have limited information on him, we will be looking for patient owners who have time to settle him in and continue with his basic training. He doesn't like being fussed over so would be best suited to an adult home with owners who will give him time to settle.

More about me

Bertie is looking to be the only pet in the home, he will make a good companion.

Minstrel at Greyhound Awareness League

A Male Black Lurcher who is age ~2

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Pet Location: Kennels

Minstrel is a lurcher, who is approximately two years old and is a gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is fully housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some mild separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

A Male Staffordshire Bull Terrier who is age 5

Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Shelter Location: South Lanarkshire

Harry is in rescue through no fault of his own and is in need of an experienced foster home.

He's approx 5 years old and is a very big and bouncy lad and needs someone to work on his basis obedience and help him to de-stress through calm and relaxed play and learning.

He can be reactive to other dogs so would need to be in an only dog home and he does not like cats either. It might be with time that he can encouraged to be around dogs socially but this is something that will need to be fully assessed and worked on.

He does also need a home with children over the age of 12 - this is purely due to his size and bounciness. He would also benefit from a quiet home with someone at home as much as possible and with a with secure garden.

We will be offering full behaviour support for Harry as he is geniunely lovely lad who just needs the right guidance. We also cover all costs for fosterers including all food, equipment and any vet costs incurred.

He is also fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

If you think you could give Harry the help and love he needs please fill out an application form and we will get in touch.

Shelter Location: Various Locations

UPDATE: Ziva has been with us for such a long time now, she really needs her forever home and she really does deserve it. Ziva is a very affectionate girl with so much love to give.
She is currently on a training programme with Paws for Progress. Her training had started a couple of weeks ago and things were going well till she started to vomit and get her snotty note again. She was in the vets over night to make sure everything was ok, she's not on a few meds to help her get better which has helped a lot so she should be getting back into training soon. The training is to help with feel more comfortable around other dogs. She is muzzle trained so can walk with other dogs without any worry. She has been a lot better with dogs since we got her walking regularly with other dogs while in kennels. She hasn't reacted to dogs much at all but we feel she would best being an only pet in the house.
Ziva could live with another dog as long as things are taken very slowly with her and she's given the time she needs to get used to the other dog(s). She really is a very special little girl that needs routine, love, affection and a warm cosy bed to sleep on at night.

Please get in touch with us if you can let her into your home.

Our beautiful Ziva is an affectionate small girl who loves to spend her day cuddling up or playing with her toys. She has just arrived into foster with another dog. Ziva can live with other dogs with slow intros but is not keen on cats/small furries, however loves kids and is enjoying the company of the children in her foster home. Further info on ziva will follow once she has settled into her foster home.

Ziva needs slow intros with other dogs

Ki at Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre

A Male Dark Brindle Lurcher who is age 2 years 5 months

Good With Children

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Dovecotewell, by Glencaple Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway DG1 4RH

Ref. No: 301/15
Age: 2 years 5 months
Height: Large (Large Collie to Labrador Size) | Breed: Lurcher | Colour: Dark Brindle | Sex: Male

History
Ki's owner was no longer able to take care of him and made the difficult decision to have him rehomed. He was adopted very briefly but he proved that he was very anxious when left on his own.
Description

Ki lived with 1 adult and 3 children (aged 5, 4 and 3) in his previous home and got on fine with the children. He also lived with 2 other dogs in his original home who he got on with. However, we are told that he had a go at a Chihuahua so he may not like all new dogs he meets. Ki lived with a cat previosly, however he may chase cats he comes across outside given his breed instincts. He travels fine in the car but can be cheeky by trying to get out of open windows! Ki hasn’t been left on his own much at all and finds it very scary. He will chew out of frustration and anxiousness at bring left. Due to the change of environments, Ki may need a refresher course on house training. This loveable lad is very affectionate and loves human company!
Re-homing Criteria

Ki needs an owner is able to help him overcome his anxieties about being left in the house on his own. If done correctly crate training is very beneficial. This takes time, consistency and a positive attitude. Ki may be suited to another dog too.

Abbey is a lovely cuddly friendly wee girl, she's young and very playful and would love a buddy to play with in her new home, she's not had the easiest start to her life and would be best with an experienced family who can help to bring her on and turn her into the dog she has the potential to be, she is quite worried about a few things but is a really quick learner and has a lot of potential with the correct guidance, she is quite an active dog and would probably quite like doing a sport like canicross or similar.

Shelter Location: Craigsford Earlston Scottish Borders TD4 6DJ

Please note: initial viewings are by appointment only. Thanks

Zak is a handsome 3½yr old  staffordshire/labrador cross who is looking for a new home as his owners were working long hours and so were unable to look after him. Zak can be a bit unsure of some people on first meeting but when introduced correctly, he is everyone’s friend. He is a very playful boy who is desperate to please.

Zak does have occasional issues with his walking, we believe this is partly him getting worked up if he doesn’t get to decide where he’s going and also partly because he can be nervous around roads, however this can be overcome and he often forgets 10 seconds later and continues happily on his walk. Zak is looking for an experienced owner who can help Zak with his issues and help him become a great little companion.

Tarik at Dog Aid Society of Scotland

A Male Labrador who is age 6 years old

Good With Children Good With Other Pets Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: 60 Blackford Avenue Edinburgh EH9 3ER

arik is a handsome Labrador who has just a wonderful nature. He is looking for a new home through no fault of his own.

Tarik is full of love and will make an amazing addition to the family. He is always pleased to meet people and will wag his tail enthusiastically. Tarik is happy to be around children however would like to be in a home where any children are teenagers. He would love for them to play football with him in the garden. Tarik is usually very good when out and about meeting other dogs, although in the past he has been known to attempt to mount other big dogs. However with positive training this could help this behaviour. Although Tarik is great with dogs we are looking for Tarik to be the only dog in the house. He possibly could live with a dog savvy cat

Tarik is a typical Labrador who loves water, so if he could continue to go swimming in his new home he would be very happy! Tarik would love a secure garden to call his own. He walks well on the lead however can sometimes pull. Tarik's recall is usually good however we do advise that his new owners continue with some recall training before letting him off lead. Tarik is a good traveler and will sleep for the journey. Tarik is ok to be left alone for short periods of a time and is not destructive when left, however we are looking for a new home for Tarik where he will have company for the best part of the day. Tarik is very clever and will sit and give a paw. His party trick is to play dead when you go "bang bang". Tarik has lots of love to give. He would love a home where he can have cuddles on the sofa and go for lovely walks.

Tarik is looking for a nice country home where ideally his new owner will have Labrador or Gun Dog experience. Do you have space on your sofa for Tarik?

Please think carefully before applying for Tarik and think how any changes in your circumstances may affect your ability to care for him. If you would like to be considered to re-home Tarik please click on the green register your interest button on our website www.dogaidsociety.com and this will take you to our application form. Once you have completed and sent the form you will receive an automatic response to your email address that you have supplied. This means we have successfully received your application. Please note that the Society only re-homes within Scotland.

Hello, my name is Lexie, I am roughly between 5 and 7 years old.. I am looking for a new home because my daddy isn’t well and he is struggling to care for me. I am abit wary of other dogs, and I have never met a cat so I need to be the only pet in the house hold. I could live with children over 8. I don’t mind being left on my own for a few hours, I like sleeping on daddies chair when he goes out. I am good to bath. I haven’t been in a car much, daddy normally takes me on the bus. I don’t mind travelling, but it does make me shake a little bit. I am a quiet girl and very loving. I enjoy my walks, treats, and I really love cuddling up on the sofa, if you are interested in me please give Fee a call on 07738268665. Lots of love Lexie xxx
