Minstrel at Greyhound Awareness League

A Male Black Lurcher who is age ~2

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Pet Location: Kennels

Minstrel is a lurcher, who is approximately two years old and is a gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is fully housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some mild separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

Shelter Location: South Lanarkshire

Harry is in rescue through no fault of his own and is in need of an experienced foster home.

He's approx 5 years old and is a very big and bouncy lad and needs someone to work on his basis obedience and help him to de-stress through calm and relaxed play and learning.

He can be reactive to other dogs so would need to be in an only dog home and he does not like cats either. It might be with time that he can encouraged to be around dogs socially but this is something that will need to be fully assessed and worked on.

He does also need a home with children over the age of 12 - this is purely due to his size and bounciness. He would also benefit from a quiet home with someone at home as much as possible and with a with secure garden.

We will be offering full behaviour support for Harry as he is geniunely lovely lad who just needs the right guidance. We also cover all costs for fosterers including all food, equipment and any vet costs incurred.

He is also fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

If you think you could give Harry the help and love he needs please fill out an application form and we will get in touch.

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: Forteviot Kennels Forteviot PERTH PH2 9BS

Ice & Storm were brought to us as strays in August 2015. They are the best of friends and both us and the boys would like them re-homed together although we will separate for the right home.

The boys are very friendly towards people but we cannot re-home to anyone with young children or cats as we do not know their history. Ice loves to play with his favourite ball and loves destroying squeaky toys and picking the fluff off of tennis balls. Storm likes you to tell him how beautiful he is all day - which he is absolutely is!

The boys are quite strong and will require a strong and fit person to exercise them, we would like their new home to have a lovely big garden for them to play in too.

Max at Dog Aid Society of Scotland

A Male Grey Collie / Labrador Cross who is age 12 years old

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: 60 Blackford Avenue Edinburgh EH9 3ER

Despite Max being 12 years old, he is still very active and full of energy. He is a gorgeous, gentle and loving boy! Max is very friendly with everyone he meets, especially if they are willing to give him any attention. Max is great around older children. As he has never lived with children previously we are looking for a home where any children are teenagers. He would love this, especially if they went out in the garden to play football with him. Max may bark when visitors come to the house however he quickly settles. Max has lived with a cat, so we would consider re-homing Max to a home where there is a cat. Max unfortunately does not have many doggy pals. He does like smaller dogs, however he generally doesn’t like other dogs and is usually kept on a lead away from other dogs. He has a select few that he enjoys going for walks with, so he may be able to make new friends in his new home.

Max is fully housetrained and is not destructive when he is left in the house. The only thing he will be destructive with is when he is playing with a football. Max rarely travels in the car, so is quite nervous, however he is ok to go on short journeys which should help to build up his confidence. Max is happy to be left for short periods at a time, however as he is older ideally he would like company for the best part of the day. Max is good on lead and does not pull, and unfortunately is not good off lead.

Max is looking for a lovely retirement home where he can enjoy lovely walks and have a warm spot on the sofa. Max would love access to his own garden as he loves to lie in the sun and play with his football. Max will make a lovely companion and has lots of love to give a family.

Please think carefully before applying for Max and think how any changes in your circumstances may affect your ability to care for him. If you would like to be considered to re-home Max please click on the green register your interest button on our website www.dogaidsociety.com and this will take you to our application form. Once you have completed and sent the form you will receive an automatic response to your email address that you have supplied. This means we have successfully received your application.

*** LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME ***

POPPET
8years
Vaccinated, chipped & spayed
Looking for pet/child free home.

Poppet came into our care after being dumped by her 'owners', she was in a horrendous condition and had just had major surgery due to pyometra. She arrived skin and bones and quite nervous. Thankfully Poppet has really improved since arriving with us and is now much healthier and her weight is continuing to improve.

Poppet is looking for a pet free/child free foster home with training experience. She is very clean in her kennel and non destructive. Poppet spent her life crated and was only fed "if they remembered" and this has obviously had an impact on her. She is not good with dogs/cats and will take any opportunity she sees to get food, for this reason she is looking for a child/pet free foster/forever home.

Poppet is a very happy girl and will wag her tail at any chance she gets 😊 since coming into our care she has grown in confidence and is testing the boundaries a bit and will jump around and bark if she gets excited, she doesn't quite know what to do with her new found freedom/energy so would love a home that will work on some training with her to mentally stimulate her, she can sit/give a paw/lie down.

If you think you have the time to give Poppet please apply via our website.

Ki

Ki at Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre

A Male Dark Brindle Lurcher who is age 2 years 5 months

Good With Children

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Dovecotewell, by Glencaple Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway DG1 4RH

Ref. No: 301/15
Age: 2 years 5 months
Height: Large (Large Collie to Labrador Size) | Breed: Lurcher | Colour: Dark Brindle | Sex: Male

History
Ki's owner was no longer able to take care of him and made the difficult decision to have him rehomed. He was adopted very briefly but he proved that he was very anxious when left on his own.
Description

Ki lived with 1 adult and 3 children (aged 5, 4 and 3) in his previous home and got on fine with the children. He also lived with 2 other dogs in his original home who he got on with. However, we are told that he had a go at a Chihuahua so he may not like all new dogs he meets. Ki lived with a cat previosly, however he may chase cats he comes across outside given his breed instincts. He travels fine in the car but can be cheeky by trying to get out of open windows! Ki hasn’t been left on his own much at all and finds it very scary. He will chew out of frustration and anxiousness at bring left. Due to the change of environments, Ki may need a refresher course on house training. This loveable lad is very affectionate and loves human company!
Re-homing Criteria

Ki needs an owner is able to help him overcome his anxieties about being left in the house on his own. If done correctly crate training is very beneficial. This takes time, consistency and a positive attitude. Ki may be suited to another dog too.

Shelter Location: Various locations in KW postcode Caithness & Sutherland KW14

Poor Oscar has had a hard time lately. His owner recently died and Oscar found himself homeless. He was taken on by a friend of his owner but this did not work out so Oscar endured a long road trip up to us. He is in a foster home where he is doing well but he really does need to have a proper home of his own where he can settle down and feel secure again. He is neutered. A typical collie his main focus in life is his ball. He is in good health and will hopefully have a good few years to enjoy his new life. Please get in contact if you can offer Oscar a secure and loving home. You will need to complete a KWK9 application form but if you have already done so just send KWK9 an email.
