Bertie came to SSR from the pound, he was picked up as a stray.
Bertie is currently in foster in Inverness.
Bertie is a very friendly and happy boy, he always has a huge smile on his face and loves snuggling up to you. Bertie loves to play with toys with you.
Bertie is dog friendly and currently lives with 2 other dogs, who he gets on great with. Bertie really enjoys the company of other dogs and we would prefer to place him in a home with a resident dog.
We don't think Bertie has had more exposure to busy areas, so would suit a quieter area whilst exposing him to the world.
Bertie's foster home say he really is no bother at all, he is such a character and full of joy.
Bertie is in good health and is neutered, vaccinated and chipped.
Bertie enjoys his walks and especially loves going to the beach on his long line, Bertie does pull on the lead and his foster home are working on this. Bertie does have selective hearing on a walk and not much engagement, but this is being worked on.
Bertie travels well in the car.
Secure garden would be a plus

More about Benny
Benny is looking for an experienced owner who have had larger bull breed dogs in the past, so can fully understand the bully personality. He would like access to a garden so he can work on his basic training and to be kept company for most of the day whilst he settles in. Benny will need to be the only pet but may be able to live with dog savvy older teenagers who won’t be worried by his boisterous nature.
Benny can be a bit unsure of new people to start with but is the sweetest, happiest of boys who is very loving and likes to cuddle up for a snooze beside you. He is a bundle of fun who is playful and loves his squeaky toys or a game of tug, although his exuberance means he becomes a bit of a bull in a China shop at times! He will require an experienced owner who understand bully breeds and how boisterous they can be though he is very eager to please.
Benny hasn’t had the easiest time and can become overstimulated in some situations so needs an understanding owner who have the patience and time to help him adjust to his new surroundings. He does thoroughly enjoy his enrichment sessions though which will help during the moments he feels overwhelmed. He enjoys his walks to the beach and is happy to walk alongside other dogs although he much prefers doing his own thing.
Benny does have arthritis in his elbow which is being managed by pain medication, and he will have to remain on this for the rest of his life. More information will be discussed with successful applicants.

Name: Teddy
Breed: Miniature Poodle
Sex: Male
Age: 9yrs
Key information: Sweet and nervous boy, needs to live with a confident well behaved dog. calm, adult only home, with a secure garden.
Teddy has spent his whole life as a breeding dog. For years, he missed out on the little joys most dogs take for granted — soft beds, gentle cuddles, walks in the fresh air, and people who love him just for being him.
Because of this, Teddy is shy and a little unsure of the world. But with patience and kindness, he is slowly discovering how wonderful life can be.
Teddy is looking for owners who have had nervous dogs before, someone patient, kind and who is happy to help him build his confidence at his own pace. Teddy lights up when he see’s other dogs and would benefit from living with a confident role model who can help him understand that people are good and can be trusted.
Teddy is not ready to go for walks yet, he is very worried by the outside world and needs time to feel brave. He does however love the garden and enjoys investigating. Teddy is not house-trained and will need help with this.
Teddy wants to be friends with you, he looks forward to seeing you and really does try his best to let himself be a normal dog but he is just not able to take that leap yet, however we are confident with time, love and patience he will become your best friend.

A little guy with a big heart!
This is the very handsome Bobby!
Bobby LOVES cuddles and getting out for walks. He adores meeting new people and seems pretty relaxed around the other dogs here at the centre.
Although he has no experience with children, he has a very sweet nature so older children should be fine. We are unsure how he would react to cats.
This clever lad has been housetrained and is great with handling.
History
Little Bobby is looking for a new home due to his previous owner sadly passing away.
Re-homing Criteria
Bobby is a sweet natured boy with a big heart and a love for people. He's at his happiest when he's by your side- whether that is snuggled up for cuddles or heading out on one of his beloved walks!
Bobby enjoys meeting new people and is generally relaxed when encountering other dogs when out and about . He would thrive in an active home where he can enjoy regular adventures and plenty of companionship. He could live with another dog, providing they can match his energy.

What we do know is that he is affectionate and eager to share his days with someone who will love his friendly, cuddly nature.

Meet Skye – The Big, Bouncy Butterfly
Fostered in Ayr, Scotland
DOB: 28 December 2024
Vaccinated, pet passport ready, not yet spayed (too young)
Skye was rescued in Romania as a tiny puppy with her 2 sisters and spent her whole
puppyhood in rescue kennels with very little space to grow and play. Now, finally in
Scotland, she’s making up for lost time with all the bounce and joy you’d expect from
a giant puppy.
She’s beautiful, energetic, and full of fun — with legs that don’t quite know what
they’re doing yet (think “baby giraffe” energy!). Skye has never lived in a home or
walked on a lead before, so she’ll need a patient family who’s ready to start from
scratch.
She’s friendly, gentle, and loves people, but being such a big pup with big puppy
energy, she’ll need an adult-only home with a large, secure garden.
Skye is not for the faint-hearted — but she is for the big-hearted. With time and
training, she’ll be a loyal and loving best friend.
All three sisters are gentle, sweet, and eager to love. They need dedicated homes
willing to guide them through the basics of home life, but the reward will be three
incredible companions with hearts as big as their paws.

Meet Islay – The Life of the Party
Fostered in Ayr, Scotland
DOB: 28 December 2024
Vaccinated, pet passport ready, not yet spayed (too young)
Islay was rescued in Romania as a tiny pup with her 2 sisters and grew up in
cramped rescue kennels without much space to run or play. But now she’s
here in Scotland, she’s making up for every missed moment — and she’s
doing it with gusto!
The joker of the trio, Islay has absolutely no spatial awareness and barrels
through life with oversized enthusiasm. She hasn’t lived in a home or walked
on a lead before, so her new family will need patience, commitment, and a
good sense of humour.
She’s a big puppy with even bigger energy, so an adult-only home with a
large, secure garden is essential — ideally in a rural area where she can zoom
to her heart’s content.
Islay may be a big girl but she’s pure joy wrapped in fur and will reward her
family with endless laughs and love.
All three sisters are gentle, sweet, and eager to love. They need dedicated
homes willing to guide them through the basics of home life, but the reward
will be three incredible companions with hearts as big as their paws.

Meet Iona – The Sweet, Shy Sister
Fostered in Ayr, Scotland
DOB: 28 December 2024
Vaccinated, pet passport ready, not yet spayed (too young)
Iona’s story began in Romania, where she was rescued as a tiny puppy with her 2
sisters. Sadly, she spent her whole puppyhood in rescue kennels with not much space
or adventure. Despite this tough start, Iona has grown into a gentle, friendly girl with so
much love to give.
She can be a little shy when she first meets new people, but she warms up quickly and
soon becomes your number-one fan. Like her sisters, Iona has never lived in a home or
walked on a lead, so she’ll need patient owners willing to teach her everything from
scratch.
She’ll thrive in an adult-only, rural home with a secure garden, where she can stretch
her legs and build her confidence at her own pace. Sweet, beautiful, and playful — Iona
just needs her chance to shine.
All three sisters are gentle, sweet, and eager to love. They need dedicated homes
willing to guide them through the basics of home life, but the reward will be three
incredible companions with hearts as big as their paws.

Like his namesake, Stitch is quite the character. He has been attending our socialisation walks for a few weeks and has been improving every week. Initially, he was very pully and would whine when he saw other dogs but he can now be distracted with treats and is walking much better. Stitch is a cuddly boy and very affectionate, he is great with children although may be too bouncy for under 5's.. Could Stitch be the one for you?

Meet Brodie – Your Cheeky, Loyal Little Sidekick
Location: Ayr, Scotland
Date of Birth: 01 September 2022
Size: Small
Health: Vaccinated, flea/worm treated, neutered, and comes with his pet passport
Brodie is a sweet, cheeky young dog who’s had a loving home for just over a year. Sadly, due to no fault of his own, he’s now looking for a new family to call his forever.
This little lad is bursting with character and loves to be outdoors exploring (unless it’s raining — then he’d much prefer to cuddle up inside with you!). Brodie is an active, curious boy who will thrive in a home full of fun, play, and stimulation.
Brodie’s Personality & Needs - oung, energetic, and playful
Loves sofa cuddles and following his humans around the house
Toilet trained and sleeps happily downstairs overnight
Big fan of toys and garden patrols — always on the lookout!
Can be left alone for a few hours on occasion
Brodie is very interested in other dogs when on a lead and can become overexcited, sometimes doing a bit of lunging. He currently wears a headcollar to help with his lead training. With calm, controlled greetings he’s absolutely fine with other dogs and loves to play. His new family should be prepared to continue his training and help him improve around other dogs — he just needs some patience and guidance to reach his full potential.
Brodie’s Perfect Home An active, experienced family who can give him plenty of stimulation A quieter area without too many passing dogs No young children or cats A family willing to continue his training, especially on the lead and around other dogs With the right home, Brodie will make the most loyal, loving companion. He’s affectionate, playful, and happiest when he’s with his people.
Ready to give Brodie the forever home he deserves?
Please visit www.savingandrehomingstrays.org to read about our process and complete an adoption application. A home check and adoption donation will apply. Let’s help Brodie find his happily ever after.

Rocky was an owner surrender, he had lived a very sheltered life/was overweight and had allergies. Rocky was adopted but returned to SSR after struggling to settle in the home, it was to busy for him.
Rocky is currently in foster in Midlothian, any potential home for Rocky would need to be committed to meeting Rocky over a period of time so he can get to know you.
Rocky is such a friendly and happy boy, once you get to know him and he trusts you. Rocky has had a hard life and not much exposure, he can become overexcited and struggle to settle. In the foster home Rocky has his own bedroom were he can take himself off to and relax in his safe space, over time Rocky is settling and now loves snuggling up with you and watching a film.
Rocky loves to play with his rope toys and has started to play with his ball in the secure field, he loves sunbathing in the garden and will happily chill all day outside if he could. Rocky loves natural chews/kongs and lick mats. Rocky's favourite walk is to the beach he loves running in the sea and gets the zoomies.
Rocky is a quiet boy and is anxious/nervous, but is slowly coming out his shell. Rocky can be unsure about touch especially around his feet, we can get a paw but we are unable to touch his paws ect, but once he trusts you he loves a belly rub!
Rocky can be left in the house on his own for a period of time and is non destructive. Rocky is dog friendly and has lived with dogs, but high energy/playful dogs he does struggle with and becomes overwhelmed, he happily coexists with calm dogs, but at the moment we feel with Rocky's life being unsettled he would be better suited to a pet free home.
Rocky will need a quiet home with rare visitors, he struggles to cope with visitors - we are working on this with him at the moment and why he has a safe space to relax in, he can become jumpy/mouthy. Rocky can have the same response with putting jackets on/phone calls he can become overexcited, he picks up training well and this is improving, but any home would manage this with our support
Rocky is in good health and had a full check up recently, he is neutered and vaccinated. Rocky is nervous of the vets and being touched, so is given calming meds and is muzzled trained for the vets.
Rocky suffers from environmental allergies and if not managed can get cysts on his feet, we currently have this under control and they have been been treated by the vet, he currently takes aqupoel for his allergies.
Rocky really enjoys his walks, he loves being out and we are building up his walks, at the moment we do 3x 20 minute walks a day to the park/woodlands/around the block. Rocky can pull when heading back to the car/home as its his safe space, but walks well on his harness when out. In larger/quiet areas he enjoys his walks on a long lead, he loves a good sniff and is engaged with you on walks.
Rocky walks past dogs at a distance easily but in close proximity he will sometimes pull/jump/bark, as desperate to see the other dog so are working on him being neutral around dogs whilst out.
Rocky is starting to enjoy secure fields, he will play with his ball and zoom about.
Rocky travels well in the car, he currently sits in the back or boot. He can be excited when first gets in the car and will sing to you but soon calms down and will lie down, he does become excited again when you pull into your destination.
Rocky gravitates more to men and would suit a single male home.
A secure garden.
Bullbreed experience.
Experience with anxious/nervous dogs
