Brodie at Dogs Trust - West Calder

A Male Black and white Border Collie Cross who is age 2 to 5

Not Good With Children Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: Bentyhead West Calder EH55 8LE

Likes and dislikes:

Broxie is nervous boy at first but when he gets to know you he is full of fun, he loves going for walks and playing fetch. Broxie is fully house-trained and happy to be left for a few hours alone at home. He is an energetic lad who likes to be on the move, so an active owner who suit him best.

Type of home needed:

Broxie is looking for an owner who has the time to build up his confidence when meeting new people and dogs, he is a clever boy and learns quickly. He loves his owners but can get overwhelmed in some situations, so needs a very calm home where he won't find himself in situations where he feels threatened. For this reason, he cannot live with children, but he can live with a friendly dog.

Shelter Location: 315 Hamilton Road Uddingston Glasgow G71 7SL

Likes and dislikes:

Robbie loves to play ball games and learn new things. Robbie is nervous in new situations and takes his time to get to know people.

Type of home needed:

Robbie can live with children who are 16 years old or over. He would prefer a quiet household to settle into with someone who has experience of owning collies. He needs a secure garden to run around and get some time to play off lead. A home with calm, quiet areas to walk in would also benefit him.

More about me:

Robbie would need several meets at the centre to build a relationship before going to his new home.

Minstrel at Greyhound Awareness League

A Male Black Lurcher who is age ~2

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Pet Location: Kennels

Minstrel is a lurcher, who is approximately two years old and is a gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is fully housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some mild separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

A Male Dog who is age: 5

Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Shelter Location: South Lanarkshire

Harry is in rescue through no fault of his own and is in need of an experienced foster home.

He's approx 5 years old and is a very big and bouncy lad and needs someone to work on his basis obedience and help him to de-stress through calm and relaxed play and learning.

He can be reactive to other dogs so would need to be in an only dog home and he does not like cats either. It might be with time that he can encouraged to be around dogs socially but this is something that will need to be fully assessed and worked on.

He does also need a home with children over the age of 12 - this is purely due to his size and bounciness. He would also benefit from a quiet home with someone at home as much as possible and with a with secure garden.

We will be offering full behaviour support for Harry as he is geniunely lovely lad who just needs the right guidance. We also cover all costs for fosterers including all food, equipment and any vet costs incurred.

He is also fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

If you think you could give Harry the help and love he needs please fill out an application form and we will get in touch.

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: Forteviot Kennels Forteviot PERTH PH2 9BS

Ice & Storm were brought to us as strays in August 2015. They are the best of friends and both us and the boys would like them re-homed together although we will separate for the right home.

The boys are very friendly towards people but we cannot re-home to anyone with young children or cats as we do not know their history. Ice loves to play with his favourite ball and loves destroying squeaky toys and picking the fluff off of tennis balls. Storm likes you to tell him how beautiful he is all day - which he is absolutely is!

The boys are quite strong and will require a strong and fit person to exercise them, we would like their new home to have a lovely big garden for them to play in too.

*** LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME ***

POPPET
8years
Vaccinated, chipped & spayed
Looking for pet/child free home.

Poppet came into our care after being dumped by her 'owners', she was in a horrendous condition and had just had major surgery due to pyometra. She arrived skin and bones and quite nervous. Thankfully Poppet has really improved since arriving with us and is now much healthier and her weight is continuing to improve.

Poppet is looking for a pet free/child free foster home with training experience. She is very clean in her kennel and non destructive. Poppet spent her life crated and was only fed "if they remembered" and this has obviously had an impact on her. She is not good with dogs/cats and will take any opportunity she sees to get food, for this reason she is looking for a child/pet free foster/forever home.

Poppet is a very happy girl and will wag her tail at any chance she gets 😊 since coming into our care she has grown in confidence and is testing the boundaries a bit and will jump around and bark if she gets excited, she doesn't quite know what to do with her new found freedom/energy so would love a home that will work on some training with her to mentally stimulate her, she can sit/give a paw/lie down.

If you think you have the time to give Poppet please apply via our website.

Rufus

Rufus at Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre

A Male Dark sable Rottweiler Cross Lurcher who is age 1 year 11 months

Good With Other Pets

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Dovecotewell, by Glencaple Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway DG1 4RH

Ref. No: 296/15
Age: 1 year 11 months (approx)
Height: Very Large (German Shepherd Size) | Breed: Rotti x Lurcher | Colour: Dark Sable | Sex: Male

History
Rufus' owner had a change in circumstances which meant he was being left on his own for too long. He was rehomed very briefly but his owners were not able to give him the training he needs.

Description
In his previous home, Rufus lived with 2 adults and 2 children(aged 8 and 5 years) who we are told he got on okay with, however he can be very boisterous. He has lived with cats but we have been told he can be a bit full on with them. Rufus hasn't lived with another dog but he seems friendly towards the other dogs at the centre and has mixed with dogs for when out on walks. He can be quite intimidating to other dogs however. He is quite good in the house and is okay to be left for a couple of hours on his own, if he has had plenty of exercise and mental stimulation before. Rufus He travels well in the car and is house trained. Rufus is a very strong boy who can pull on the lead and has a tendency to get over-aroused at times on walks when he will suddenly start grabbing the lead and mouthing it or your hand - this needs firm, confident handling to teach him how to cope with frustration. He is very affectionate and loves to play!

Re-homing Criteria
Rufus needs an owner who can dedicate lots of time to exercising and training this big boy! He is very intelligent, he just needs a patient owner who is able to provide him with some consistent training. He may be better suited to older children given his size and strength.

Shelter Location: Craigsford Earlston Scottish Borders TD4 6DJ

Spud is a 4½yr old boy who came in to us as a failed farm working dog. He can be quite a shy boy until he gets to know you. As he has come from a working situation on a farm, he has never lived in a house so any potential new owner must take this into consideration. Similarly he is not used to being handled as much as a family pet, he is growing to enjoy this more and more every day, but again any potential new owner must seriously consider if they have the time and patience to work with him on this. Spud is still settling in so more details will follow.

Benji at Dog Aid Society of Scotland

A Male Dog who is age: 8 years old

Not Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: 60 Blackford Avenue Edinburgh EH9 3ER

Benji is a sweet natured boy who is looking for his forever home through no fault of his own. He has lots of love to give and will make a fantastic companion.

Benji is great in the house and is very happy to snuggle on the sofa next to you. He loves attention and will never say no to being made a fuss of. He is not destructive when left alone and is happy to be left for short periods at a time. He is very friendly and will jump up and bark for attention. Benji although great with everyone he meets has had very limited experience with all ages of children therefore we are looking for an adult only home. Benji travels ok, however has had limited experience. The few times he has been in the car he has been in a crate and does settle. Benji will pull when walking on a lead and in a secure area will come back when called, however we recommend further training with his recall on a long line before letting him off lead.

Little Benji is great with other dogs and is happy to run around and play with them. We are happy to place Benji in a home where there is another friendly dog, however we will not re-home him where there are resident cats. Benji is a great all rounder and will make a wonderful companion. Despite being 8 years old he is still very active and enjoys going out for nice walks. Benji loves to chase a ball in the garden so he would love his own secure garden where he can continue his favorite game. Benji is used to a quiet home where he has company for most of the day and ideally this is the type of home that we are looking for. Unfortunately Benji is not suited to living in a flat and is looking for a nice quite home where it is not too busy or noisy, such as a nice quiet country home. Benji does bark when he hears loud noises however with training and patience this can be managed. Benji was very much loved in his previous home and was allowed to rule the roost so he can be demanding at times. Once he has learnt that he can’t get away with mischief he will make a wonderful companion.

Benji is a fantastic little dog with a great personality. If you are looking for a little dog who doesn’t ask for much apart from a nice cozy bed and lots of love then Benji is the one for you!

Please think carefully before applying for Benji and think how any changes in your circumstances may affect your ability to care for him. If you would like to be considered to re-home Benji please click on the green register your interest button on our website www.dogaidsociety.com and this will take you to our application form. Once you have completed and sent the form you will receive an automatic response to your email address that you have supplied. This means we have successfully received your application. Please note that the Society only re-homes within Scotland.
