Minstrel at Greyhound Awareness League

A Male Black Lurcher who is age ~2

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Pet Location: Kennels

Minstrel is a lurcher, who is approximately two years old and is a gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is fully housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some mild separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

Hello there My name is Buster and if you fancy having a big strapping handsome guy walking by your side then you have found him!! I am about 8/9 years old and I am looking for a home as my devoted daddy died and I went to live with my daddy’s brother. I would be better suited to kids aged 10 and over and I need an experienced owner to continue with my training. I don't like being left by myself too long and get upset even though I am a big dude I am a bit of a softy!!..so I would like my new family to have someone at home for me most of the time. I can disgrace myself if I am off the lead and decide not tae come back more so if I see a rabbit or bird and decide to play chasies.. I don't do cats so don't even go there! I am a good boy in the car and like to have my staffie seat belt on and do you know I love a bath! I love people and the company and I promise I would be a really good boy for you, I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Harry at Staffordshire Rescue Scotland

A Male Dog who is age: 5

Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: South Lanarkshire

Harry is in rescue through no fault of his own and is in need of an experienced foster home.

He's approx 5 years old and is a very big and bouncy lad and needs someone to work on his basis obedience and help him to de-stress through calm and relaxed play and learning.

He can be reactive to other dogs so would need to be in an only dog home and he does not like cats either. It might be with time that he can encouraged to be around dogs socially but this is something that will need to be fully assessed and worked on.

He does also need a home with children over the age of 12 - this is purely due to his size and bounciness. He would also benefit from a quiet home with someone at home as much as possible and with a with secure garden.

We will be offering full behaviour support for Harry as he is geniunely lovely lad who just needs the right guidance. We also cover all costs for fosterers including all food, equipment and any vet costs incurred.

He is also fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

If you think you could give Harry the help and love he needs please fill out an application form and we will get in touch.

*** LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME ***

POPPET
8years
Vaccinated, chipped & spayed
Looking for pet/child free home.

Poppet came into our care after being dumped by her 'owners', she was in a horrendous condition and had just had major surgery due to pyometra. She arrived skin and bones and quite nervous. Thankfully Poppet has really improved since arriving with us and is now much healthier and her weight is continuing to improve.

Poppet is looking for a pet free/child free foster home with training experience. She is very clean in her kennel and non destructive. Poppet spent her life crated and was only fed "if they remembered" and this has obviously had an impact on her. She is not good with dogs/cats and will take any opportunity she sees to get food, for this reason she is looking for a child/pet free foster/forever home.

Poppet is a very happy girl and will wag her tail at any chance she gets 😊 since coming into our care she has grown in confidence and is testing the boundaries a bit and will jump around and bark if she gets excited, she doesn't quite know what to do with her new found freedom/energy so would love a home that will work on some training with her to mentally stimulate her, she can sit/give a paw/lie down.

If you think you have the time to give Poppet please apply via our website.

Heidi

Heidi at Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre

A Female Black and white Jack Russell Cross Collie who is age 4 years 11 months

Not Good With Other Pets

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Dovecotewell, by Glencaple Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway DG1 4RH

Ref. No: 083/16
Age: 4 years 11 months
Height: Medium (Beagle to Small Collie Size) | Breed: JRT X Collie | Colour: White and Black | Sex: Female

History
Heidi's owner has brought her in for re-homing as she has been chewing furniture when left alone.

Description
Heidi has come from an adult only home. She can be very vary of children and strangers and has been known to growl at them. She is playful and loves a squeaky toy! Heidi is housetrained, however she does appear to be uncomfortable with living indoors and is much more settled in an outdoor kennel environment She loves to be petted and doesn't mind a brush (she has a lovely soft coat!).She travels well by car. Heidi can be a hit or a miss with new dogs she meets on lead, but is normally playful off lead. Her typical terrier instincts take over when she sees a cat and she likes to chase them. She has never met livestock and may need a little help with her recall training. She is very affectionate and in the correct environment should make a fun pet!

Re-homing Criteria
Heidi would make an ideal pet for someone looking for a kennel dog. She is much more relaxed in an outdoor environment and finds life indoors too stressful. Heidi needs a Terrier or Collie experience home. She is very nervous of strangers that come to her house, therefore will need an owner who is able to help introduce her to new people slowly. If kept indoors and left alone, Heidi will chew furniture and other items..

Shelter Location: Craigsford Earlston Scottish Borders TD4 6DJ

Spud is a 4½yr old boy who came in to us as a failed farm working dog. He can be quite a shy boy until he gets to know you. As he has come from a working situation on a farm, he has never lived in a house so any potential new owner must take this into consideration. Similarly he is not used to being handled as much as a family pet, he is growing to enjoy this more and more every day, but again any potential new owner must seriously consider if they have the time and patience to work with him on this. Spud is still settling in so more details will follow.

Abbey

Abbey at Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary

A Female White and Brown Lurcher who is age 1

Pet Location: foster home

Abbey is a lovely cuddly friendly wee girl, she's young and very playful and would love a buddy to play with in her new home, she's not had the easiest start to her life and would be best with an experienced family who can help to bring her on and turn her into the dog she has the potential to be, she is quite worried about a few things but is a really quick learner and has a lot of potential with the correct guidance, she is quite an active dog and would probably quite like doing a sport like canicross or similar.

If you have room in your home and your hearts for Abbey please visit our website http://www.scottishgreyhoundsanctuary.com where you can complete an online application form or you can email us at info@scottishgreyhoundsanctuary.com or phone us on 08456439335

Shelter Location: Various locations in KW postcode Caithness & Sutherland KW14

Toby is a lovely 4-5 year old lurcher who returned to the care of KWK9 Rescue when his home broke down. He found living with a toddler just too much to cope with and became very stressed and miserable. Now in a foster home he is back to his happy playful self. He would love to find a home that is toddler free. He loves a run and then a long sleep. He has become a bit lead reactive but this is something that can be worked on to overcome as he is basically a friendly chap and we think it has come about as a result of being kept on lead for such a long time

Luna at Dog Aid Society of Scotland

A Female Dog who is age: 8 years old

Not Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: 60 Blackford Avenue Edinburgh EH9 3ER

Little Luna is a very sweet and loving dog. She is looking for a new home due to her owner’s other commitments.

Luna loves the company of people however can be very jealous around other dogs and will run at them barking. She is well behaved in the house and is fully toilet trained. She barks when she hears noises or when visitors come to the house. Luna loves her soft toys however can guard them so will need guidance and extra training to overcome this. She is happy to travel in the car and can be lifted up no problem. She walks nicely on her lead and has fair recall if let off in a secure area where there are no dogs present. Luna can be left alone for short periods of time however ideally she would like company for most part of the day.

Luna has still to be neutered (this will be done once settled in her new home as part of our re-homing terms) however is in general good health. Luna bonds well with one person in particular and will make a great companion to a single person or couple. As she is nervous around children we will not place her in a home where there are any children present or where they visit regularly. She would like a home where she has a secure garden to run around in. Ideally her new owner will have the time to allow Luna to sit on their lap and be petted or brushed (which she loves!). Luna is not suitable to live with a cat.

Luna’s new owner will have dog experience with nervous, stubborn little dogs and be willing to continue her training. Luna may take a few weeks to settle into her home so is looking for a patient and understanding owner who has helped dogs like her in the past. Luna looks for a lot of attention however is eager to please and has mastered numerous tricks such as sit, paw, full turn, crawl and roll over.

Do you have the time to spend with sweet little Luna?

Please think carefully before applying for Luna and think how any changes in your circumstances may affect your ability to care for her. If you would like to be considered to re-home Luna please click on the green register your interest button on our website www.dogaidsociety.com and this will take you to our application form. Once you have completed and sent the form you will receive an automatic response to your email address that you have supplied. This means we have successfully received your application. Please note that the Society only re-homes within Scotland.

Medical Needs: The Dog Aid Society’s Old Dog Scheme covers dogs re-homed at 8 years old or above. This means that the Society will cover costs for veterinary care for the dog for the remainder of their life within reason. We do not cover costs for routine treatments such as vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. If the dog requires special dietary food we will contribute 50% of the cost. This will alleviate the worry of the financial implications taking an older dog into your home. Older dogs make great pets! Why not consider an older dog?

Pet Location: Lanarkshire

Loki is a giant puppy he's not had the best start in life and is living his puppyhood again whilst in a loving home. He can be a handful as he hadn't had much training before coming into rescue so he will need some further training. He's good with kids but due to his size we would recommend older dog savvy kids only. He's good with other dogs with slow careful introductions and would be best suited to a tolerant female or as an only dog. He has previously lived with cats but does have a prey drive so would need to be dog friendly cats in an experienced home.
