Kos was found recently as a stray, his owner did not claim him and he has now come to us to help him find his new home. Very little is known about Kos so he will be further assessed before he is placed in any home.

Turns out this fella had very very sore ears when he came into the kennels which made him appear a bit on the grumpy side. These ears have now been treated and his true loving gentle laid back character has come out. He is a really sweet boy with a fantastic you could you resist this one!

Meet gorgeous 1 year old Gus. Gus is currently in a quiet foster home and has settled really well. Gus is still very much a puppy and needs to learn some basic manners and basic obedience cues.
He is an incredibly quick learner but cannot focus in a busy household. He is housetrained but in other ways he is still very much a puppy.

Gus travels ok in the car, is fantastic with children of all ages and other dogs. He would chase cats given a chance though.

Although he is brilliant with children, he becomes very excited and is unable to focus or slow down when they are around.

Gus is also a very energetic young boy who needs mental and physical stimulation in a quiet home. He is good with other dogs.

We require his new owners to continue his training.

Homing requirements

Someone who has time to continue his training
No cats
A garden
An active owner who enjoys long walks
No young children living in the home (visiting children would be fine but Gus gets far too excited with young children)

Bertie is a 2 year old crossbreed. Bertie is a bouncy and active boy. He is a very energetic boy who enjoys going for long walks and splashing around puddles. He likes games where he can search for toys in the long grass.

Type of home needed

Bertie came to us as a stray and we have limited information on him, we will be looking for patient owners who have time to settle him in and continue with his basic training. He doesn't like being fussed over so would be best suited to an adult home with owners who will give him time to settle.

More about me

Bertie is looking to be the only pet in the home, he will make a good companion.

Bailey is a lovely 16month girl who is needing rehomed as her owner was unable to care for her. When she first arrived she had a bad skin condition but this has greatly improved with a course of medication and regular bathing.

She spend some time in a foster home with another dog but despite being dog friendly, it unfortunately didn't work out living with another dog and so she would really need to be the only dog in her new home.

Mr Minstrel is looking for a special home.

Minstrel is a lurcher, approximately one and a half years old and is an affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

Orchid was found as a stray and brought to the centre.

Orchid arrived at the centre and was very nervous of new people. She has came round and once she has spent some time with you is soon bouncing around wanting to play. Orchid can be uncomfortable around other dogs. She enjoys her food. As she is a nervous girl we would want to rehome her to an adult only home. We don't know if she has lived in a house before. She is very energetic and loves to play.

Re-homing Criteria

An adult only home is best for Orchid.

A wonderful. loving and very affectionate brown tabby female cat Misha is an absolute joy to be around. She is always eager to greet you when you go to visit her and she always has lots of head bumps.

At 2.5 to 3yrs old Misha is still a very young cat though thankfully out of the silly kitten mischief phase. She loves to play, especially with either the laser mouse or The Furenzy.

Misha came to us through no fault of her own after her owner lost their home and she was unable to take Misha with her. She has settled in very quickly to life at Sunny Harbour and is a joy to look after. She keeps her pen area lovely and clean, which is more than can be said for some ;-).

She enjoys her rest time as much as play time and is very eager to have someone to love whether it be a family or adult home. She would probably like to have some access to a garden well away from any busy roads or cut throughs.

Misha has lived with a dog before quite happily so would be a good candidate for someone with an existing cat friendly dog.

We are very sure that once you meet Misha you too will fall for her amazing charm. She truly is one of the nicest cats you could meet.

If you feel that you could offer Misha the loving home that she deserves then please do get in touch via our adoption application process.

Not Good With Dogs

Mr Sox the gorgeous blue lurcher has a fantastic nature and is a real family dog who has settled in fantastically well at his foster home where he lives with older children in quite a rural location. sadly Mr Sox can be very reactive to certain other dogs especially when on his lead, his foster mum manages him very well though and has managed to coordinate his routine to suit Mr Sox by using a common sense approach and walking in fairly non populated walks. We hope to find a forever home for him that will show the same commitment to managing him as although we hope he will improve further it is probably something that will always need management. Its not all bad news though as Mr Sox has some amazing doggy pals a Labrador, jack Russell terrier and 2 lurcher cousins who he loves to play with. They are both male and female so its not gender or size that's the issue it seems to be down to a lack of confidence when meeting new dogs for the first time. We are confident to think that he can be rehomed with another dog but the meetings would need to be managed until he gained some confidence around his new mates. He is a fantastic dog to have around very interactive with a happy sunny nature, he is totally clean, non destructive and happy to be left for a few hours during the day. He is a typical lurcher enjoying home comforts as you can see! totally absorbed with his ball and playing fetch. He is a very striking blue lurcher which is not very obvious in his photo. We would ask that if you are looking for a brilliant family dog and companion that you give Mr Sox a chance and come and meet him for yourself. He is microchipped, neutered and fully vaccinated aprox 2-3 years old
