Approx Age: 3 years
Rodger is a nervous soul who is worried by strangers. It takes him a while to feel confident around new people and to form a bond with strangers. Once Rodger has learned to trust, he forms a strong bond with someone. Rodger has spent time with children who were aged 13 and over. He was fine with teenagers but nervous of young children. He is not a fan of cats, however we are told he got on well with the other dog in the house. Rodger does not like travelling in the car. He is house trained and okay to be left for a couple of hours on own. He is wary of people coming to the door and will need some help overcoming this fear using positive reward training. Rodger loves his walks and is food orientated.
Rodger was handed in as he was not getting on with the cats in the house.
Rodger is looking for a owner who has experience helping and managing nervous dogs. He will need a patient owner who knows it will take time for him to overcome his fears. Rodger is not suitable for a home with cats or children. He has shown signs of resource guarding and can be snap if strangers try to talk to him. We feel he needs a quiet home, with someone who is dedicated to his training.
