Luath Luath Luath

Luath at Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary

A Male Black Lurcher who is age 5

Not Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Cover all of Scotland and further afield if necessary

Luath (pronounced Loo-a and means fast in Scottish Gaelic) first came into SGS care in 2017 at the age of 16 months. Sadly, he has moved around a fair bit having been rehomed and returned several times. He is not an easy dog and will require a very experienced home to deal with his issues:

• Severe resource guarding which leads to biting.
• Reactivity to other dogs in the home, so he would need to be an only dog. (He can have canine friends outside for walks and playdates).
• Pulling on the lead.
• Getting excited and ragging the lead and jumping up at people.
• Separation anxiety.

The good news is that these issues have settled down after several months in his current foster home. However, he has displayed them each time he’s gone to a new home and they are very likely to show again when he moves.

Luath’s full history can be provided if you think you may be able to offer him a forever home. However, we will only accept applications from people who can demonstrate they have significant lurcher experience and are willing to work with Luath.

This gorgeous boy has been in foster for a few weeks. We are looking for a home in a rural or quiet location for Jack as he is anxious in a busy city environment. He requires a confident handler who has experience of the breed and would also benefit from canine company in his new home. A garden or outdoor space would also be beneficial as somewhere for Jack to potter around and relax in. Jack is not suitable to live with children. If you are interested in rehoming a dog like Jack please visit our website for more information on our rehoming process.
