Rocky was an owner surrender, he had lived a very sheltered life/was overweight and had allergies. Rocky was adopted but returned to SSR after struggling to settle in the home, it was to busy for him.

Rocky is currently in foster in Midlothian, any potential home for Rocky would need to be committed to meeting Rocky over a period of time so he can get to know you.

Rocky is such a friendly and happy boy, once you get to know him and he trusts you. Rocky has had a hard life and not much exposure, he can become overexcited and struggle to settle. In the foster home Rocky has his own bedroom were he can take himself off to and relax in his safe space, over time Rocky is settling and now loves snuggling up with you and watching a film.

Rocky loves to play with his rope toys and has started to play with his ball in the secure field, he loves sunbathing in the garden and will happily chill all day outside if he could. Rocky loves natural chews/kongs and lick mats. Rocky's favourite walk is to the beach he loves running in the sea and gets the zoomies.

Rocky is a quiet boy and is anxious/nervous, but is slowly coming out his shell. Rocky can be unsure about touch especially around his feet, we can get a paw but we are unable to touch his paws ect, but once he trusts you he loves a belly rub!

Rocky can be left in the house on his own for a period of time and is non destructive. Rocky is dog friendly and has lived with dogs, but high energy/playful dogs he does struggle with and becomes overwhelmed, he happily coexists with calm dogs, but at the moment we feel with Rocky's life being unsettled he would be better suited to a pet free home.

Rocky will need a quiet home with rare visitors, he struggles to cope with visitors - we are working on this with him at the moment and why he has a safe space to relax in, he can become jumpy/mouthy. Rocky can have the same response with putting jackets on/phone calls he can become overexcited, he picks up training well and this is improving, but any home would manage this with our support

Rocky is in good health and had a full check up recently, he is neutered and vaccinated. Rocky is nervous of the vets and being touched, so is given calming meds and is muzzled trained for the vets.

Rocky suffers from environmental allergies and if not managed can get cysts on his feet, we currently have this under control and they have been been treated by the vet, he currently takes aqupoel for his allergies.

Rocky really enjoys his walks, he loves being out and we are building up his walks, at the moment we do 3x 20 minute walks a day to the park/woodlands/around the block. Rocky can pull when heading back to the car/home as its his safe space, but walks well on his harness when out. In larger/quiet areas he enjoys his walks on a long lead, he loves a good sniff and is engaged with you on walks.

Rocky walks past dogs at a distance easily but in close proximity he will sometimes pull/jump/bark, as desperate to see the other dog so are working on him being neutral around dogs whilst out.

Rocky is starting to enjoy secure fields, he will play with his ball and zoom about.

Rocky travels well in the car, he currently sits in the back or boot. He can be excited when first gets in the car and will sing to you but soon calms down and will lie down, he does become excited again when you pull into your destination.

Rocky gravitates more to men and would suit a single male home.
A secure garden.
Bullbreed experience.
Experience with anxious/nervous dogs

Awesome Ace!

Ace is a little guy with a big personality! He loves a fuss and a cuddle and is always up for a walk.

This guy has lived with another dog before and has lived with children but would prefer a home without very young children.

Ace is very affectionate and enjoys company.

History

Poor Ace has had 2 different homes in his short life. He is hoping for third time lucky simply due to a change of circumstance for his previous owners.

Re-homing Criteria

Ace could live with older children who understand how to respect his space. He could live with another dog but we are unsure on how he would react to cats.

Chunky, cheeky and looking for a fresh start!

Enzo can be a little shy at first, but once he knows you, he’s a lovely, friendly boy. He’s lived with adults and is happy to greet visitors, but because of his guarding, we won’t be rehoming him with children. He tends to ignore other dogs, and we’re not sure how he feels about cats yet. Enzo is housetrained but not used to being left home alone. He can pull a bit on the lead and his recall isn’t reliable yet, so he’ll need some practice. Grooming isn’t his favourite thing, so he’ll need patient owners who can help him get more comfortable with it over time. He does travel well in the car.

History

Enzo came to us for rehoming because he was a bit too lively for his previous owner and has a tendency to guard things he sees as valuable.

Re-homing Criteria

Enzo needs a child-free home with people who understand guarding behaviour or are willing to learn and work with it. A secure garden is a must as his recall isn’t the best, and he’d love an active home where he can burn off some energy. He’s a little on the chunky side right now, so his new family will need to help him continue his weight loss journey.

Gorgeous Goldie!

This handsome old chap is very loving and enjoys good company.

Goldie loves nothing more than a walk and a fuss from his human friends. He was rehomed but was sadly returned due to not getting on well with the other male dog in the house. Originally he lived with a female dog and got on well.

Goldie is house trained and is well behaved in the car.

History

Goldie came to the centre with another dog after their owner sadly passed away.

Re-homing Criteria

We are on the hunt for a five star retirement home for this lovely boy. He has a great nature and loves people. He could possibly live with a cat but if he was to live with another dog we would need to carry out a careful introduction here at the centre first.

A very sweet soul looking for a family to call her own.

Stella is a pleasure to be around. She loves walks, playing in the snuffle wood here at the centre and a cuddle on the couch. She has never lived with cats so we are unsure how she would react to them but her previous owners have told us she was good with older children and ok around some other dogs.

History

Stella is looking for a fresh start due to a change in personal circumstances in her previous home.

Re-homing Criteria

Stella is an amazing girl who is full of so much love to give ! Stella is looking for an active home as she just loves to be out and about walking and exploring new areas! A home with a fully secure garden is a must. With sensible introductions at the centre Stella could possibly live with a calm neutered male dog in the household but we would be looking for a cat free enviroment for her. We would only really consider homes with dog savvy children over the age of 8 years due to her her habit of forgetting her size sometimes . Stella absolutely loves company so someone who is around most of the day and has lots of time to spend with her would be ideal! This gorgeous girl loves to play and run about but then she is also at her happiest when she is snuggled in beside you for some cuddles ! Stella weighs in at about 34kg at the moment , but do not let that put you off.... that's just 34kg of pure love she has to give !

More Shelter Pets

Sika is a Labrador/Pointer mix currently in a foster home in Dumfries, Scotland. She was born in the shelter in Cyprus and travelled to the UK in March in the hope of finding her forever home. She’s a clever, cuddly, and affectionate young dog who’s looking for a committed, cat-free home where she can continue building her confidence and trust in the world around her.

Sika is a very affectionate dog who thrives on human company. She adores curling up close, snoozing at your feet or on your lap, and is never short of cuddles to give. She’s a very loving girl with a very warm, loyal character. She’s also playful and silly, and loves racing around the garden with a toy in her mouth, or offering a high five in return for blueberries, her fave snack! She’s housetrained, crate trained, and sleeps soundly through the night. She’s settled beautifully into home life and is content to rest quietly when someone she trusts is nearby.

Sika is good on the lead and enjoys her walks, though she hasn’t yet mastered off-lead recall and remains on a long line outdoors. She loves water and trips to the beach, and enjoys splashing about in the sea with full-blown zoomies! We would say she has medium energy levels, enjoys a good adventure, but is also more than happy to spend the day snoozing beside you.

Sika is really good with other dogs and lives alongside several others of different ages and sizes in her foster home. She reads body language well, knows when to play and when to back off, and happily shares space and toys with her doggy companions. She would do well with a friendly resident dog in her new home who can help her build confidence and offer some gentle companionship and we would prefer to consider homes with other dogs first, than those without.

Sika’s main challenge is her separation anxiety. She’s developed a strong attachment to her foster carer, which has made it difficult for her to cope when left alone or even separated within the house. If her carer leaves, Sika becomes distressed very quickly. This is an area that really needs some work and commitment from the start with her new family. For this reason, she’ll need an adopter who is around often, ideally working from home, and committed to helping her build independence at her own pace. We’re also able to offer initial behavioural support with this.

Sika also cannot live with cats. She has shown strong prey drive and has tried to chase and bark at the resident cat even through the crate. Her new home must be completely cat-free.

When meeting new people, Sika is initially cautious and may bark or grumble out of fear. However, given time and space, she warms up and shows her sweet and playful nature. She is generally more comfortable around women than men, and we feel she would do best in a quieter household with one or more female adults. She hasn’t spent time around children, so we are looking for an adult-only home where her environment can be kept calm and predictable.

Sika is an incredibly endearing dog with a lot of potential. She’s smart, loving, eager to learn, and already knows several commands. With the right support and stability, she will blossom into a confident, loyal companion. We’re looking for a dedicated adopter who can offer her the patience, structure, and consistency she needs. In return, we know that Sika will give you all the love, cuddles, and post-beach zoomies you could ask for.

More about Blue
Blue is looking for an active owner that has had dogs in the past and will be willing to continue his training. He is looking to be the only pet but may be able to live with older teenage children.
Blue is a sweet, happy boy who loves to be made a fuss off. He enjoys going long walks so will need someone who is able to give him all the exercise that he requires. In the right home, with someone who has the time and patience to work with him, he will make a great addition to the family.
